El Shaddai: God all sufficient.– The God Who is Sufficient for the Needs of His People - From Exodus 4:10 Then Moses said to the LORD, “Please, Lord, I have never been eloquent, neither recently nor in time past, nor since Thou hast spoken to Thy servant; for I am slow of speech and slow of tongue.” Have you ever had a moment like that? I have, but I'm guessing there have been times my husband (and likely others, wished I'd been slower of speech or tongue!)
A challenging day of insufficiencies - mostly electronic and finally resolved, included looking at diet issues, where insufficiency bogged me down in the past. How much vitamins, minerals, protein, etc. is needed to burn off the you-know-what... how much exercise is sufficient... how much water... etc. I can get overwhelmed and discouraged if I read too many "diet" suggestions, and look at my past and all the diets I failed. Moses was pleading to the Lord based on what he had not been able to do in the past. He was not reckoning on what he could do with the all sufficient God enabling him. He was making a permanent condition (I AM slow of tongue) because of past failures. The passage makes me consider how I pray, and how I live - do I act upon the possibilities with El Shaddai or just on 'my' possibilities and strengths? What an encouraging lesson from Moses. Without El Shaddai I know without a doubt that I do not (alone) have what it takes to complete this resolution - but WITH the God who is sufficient for the needs of His people... I can be more than conqueror. One more day of January... 1/12th of mission will be completed!
Breakfast: Poached egg with lemon herbs and Blackberry and apple tart. Topping is oatmeal, agave nectar, olive oil and nuts.
Lunch: Cajeta (caramel made from goat's milk) smoothie - with Dannon plain yogurt and a little almond milk and rice protein powder.
Dinner: Meat, vegetable and tomato stuffed cornbread (from deli at Piggly Wiggly), cauliflower, sweet potato slices (tossed in olive oil and baked). It was delicious but so filling, neither of us could finish our meal. Now there's a victory for me! Before the Lord's Table course, I would have eaten it all because it was prepared, and paid for - even if it had gotten me overfull or sick. I'm so glad He's brought me to the place where I can quit and not obsess over it.
