Day 73 - High Tower safety

Many Bible teachers believe the rendering of Jehovah Mishgabbi or High Tower in Psalm 18:2 compares the illustration with Misgab, an inaccessible high place in Moab  that we can picture as a place of safety that the enemy cannot access.  The Psalmist says "The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my [Mishgabbi] high tower."    I love the personalization, don't you?  Not just a high tower - but my high tower.  Look at all the ways the Lord is our safety:
  • My rock (a high craggy rock - a stronghold - something that will support our climb)
  • My fortress (a castle or strong place of protection)
  • My deliverer (to carry away safe - to cause to escape)
  • My God (all power, might)
  • My strength (a refuge)
  • My Buckler  (a protector - like the scaly hide of a crocodile)
  • The horn of my salvation - (horn is the peak or the power of something)
  • My salvation (deliverance, liberty, saving)
  • My Mishgabbi - or High Tower - highest place of safety
Amazing safety net!  No wonder then that he safely puts his future in the Lord's hands and makes the commitment that it is HE "in whom I will trust."  It is after all, a daily choice of whom I will trust.

Breakfast:  Carrot-Pineapple bread and Yogurt.

Lunch:  Ham with Wild Thyme Apricot-Cranberry-Walnut chutney and pineapple, garlic mashed potatoes topped with parsley and rubbed beets.

Dinner:  Pretzel bread sliced in thirds - Wild Thyme Cran-Rasberry sauce instead of mayo (and so much more flavorful), lettuce and thin sliced ham.  Strawberry sliced long.
