Day 77 - Friend

A good day is a day spent with a friend, and I had the pleasure of being with several today.  It was great to watch the ladies interact with one another - truly caring, following up on life situations, cheering or commiserating over our family stories.  What an encouragement and load-lightener.  The dictionary defines friend as a person you know well and regard with affection and trust.

In Exodus 3:11 we see Adonai speaking to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend... and in Luke 5:20 Jesus calls us friend -Ohev -(one you have a background with - companion) "When Jesus saw their faith, he said, “Friend, your sins are forgiven.”  What a beautiful gift.  Our friends see many things about us that we would deny to ourselves and yet they forgive us those personality quirks, words too quickly spoken, or just plain foolishness and love us anyway.  Jesus goes a giant step further when He calls me friend, and takes my sin upon himself - erasing them entirely.  What a faithful friend.

Lunch at Gerhard's in Kenosha.  I can highly recommend this delightful German restaurant as being very accommodating to special dietary needs.  Everyone seemed very pleased with their meal and enjoyed the  bright and spring-like atmosphere with fresh tulips at our table.  The unique dishes and serving staff costumes completed the authentic feeling.

I forgot to photograph the delightful dinner salad which was nicer than my usual experience.  Lots of fresh veggies, attractively cut covered the mound of greens, red cabbage and tiny matchstick carrots.

Smoked Pork and red cabbage was delightful and I was later brought a side dish of 'special potato' combining potato and cabbage.  Very tasty.  The red cabbage was thick and julienned - almost the texture of beets, it was so smooth.

We enjoyed the pace at Gerhard's as no one made us feel rushed, the servers appeared seriously interested in meeting our needs and the chef answered questions and made alternate suggestions.  Definitely a place to bring a friend.
