I've been on the road again. Glad to be home for a few days - and then on the road again tomorrow. At least this time I plan NOT to forget the camera!
Chapter 19 the PAPA Prayer analysis
A brief synopsis of this chapter is a parable about a Christian who discovers that all the ‘things’ they had been asking for are second things and might be received with the cost of lost fellowship of God. Ultimately the Christian learns that without the presence of God none of those asked for things has meaning. Crabb concludes that “the central point of prayer is to come to God for first things” (bolded word my emphasis) but he lists “things” the believer already has – a guide, a healer, a king, a friend, etc.
I can understand thanking God for those first things… but one does not ask for what you already have…
Consequently my interpretation of scriptures teaching on prayer would instead conclude to say that the central point of prayer is to glorify God. That, to me, is the “First thing attitude” I want to pray with
“Mark 11:24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” This verse is often quoted alone, missing the very important truth in the next verse connected with the little word “and”…
Mark 11:25 And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.”
Food: Saturday air show - nasty food for the most part. Was excited to see roast chicken on one menu, but when we got there it was swimming in some type of sauce. No way I am going to try that again when one taste of sauce a an Italian diner a few weeks past had me sick for about 36 hours.
Without the camera and on the road – breakfast was one egg and fake “homemade” American fries (cubes from a freezer pkg) – lunch 1 chicken strip, side of California blend and dinner –and the bet meal of the trip - pineapple chicken stir fry, sweet potato fries and mint ice cream
Food at Home – Garlic Naan, natural chicken sandwich – Lime rice chips and No camera again on Sat. – Company picnic. Pulled pork (tossed the bun), ½ corn on the cob (rest was burned – I don’t eat black things), Kewpee’s tiny wheres-the-beef but wonderful tasting hamburger (tossed the bun), a peach, small slice of watermelon, and ice cream.
218 – Sunday – Chicken drumstick, ½ baked potato, lemon-olive-oil and cole slaw and Santa Claus Melon as shown above - similar to honeydew - a little softer, a little sweeter - Found at Woodmans
219 – Monday – Stonyfield yogurt, maple granola and fresh strawberries and Broiled Cod, lettuce salad and "real" American Fried Potatoes with as many or more onions on top.
