Days 244-250 - Thirsty

Lots of running and on-the-road time is no excuse that I came home Sunday night exhausted and dehydrated. I know better. I need to drink much more water. I could have brought an additional bottle of filtered water, but didn't want to "lug around the weight." Yet, I also declined to purchase available bottled water because it irked me to spend $2-3 for a bottle which I could get in the store for about 25 cents.

And so I concluded after downing three huge glasses of water after I stumbled into the house, I guess I suffered by choice. A dumb choice. A very unpleasant choice. But, it was a good lesson, because as long as I keep living, looks like I will keep learning and (hopefully) I will not do that again.

Spiritual thirst is very similar. Today's schedules are hectic and exhausting. Do I take time to prepare for the day with refreshment? Do I carry the source of refreshment? Do I pause during the day for a needed 'drink' at the Father's well? Or do I wait until I am exhausted, depressed and spiritually dry before I run - or crawl - and ask for help because I am too weak to access the remedy? Foolish choice. Unpleasant choice. Also a good lesson that I do not need to return to those foolish decisions. I have a choice. I resolve to make it a good one.

Food:   Mixed Berries with Trader Joe's Vanilla Almond granola topping and a spoon of DairyQueen ice milk.

Meyer Lemon parfait with graham cracker crunchies.

My favorite chicken part: the "oyster" found behind the drumsticks.

There are no pictures of food from the Native American Festival where I spent the last two days, although there were a few good offerings, namely: corn off the cob with garlic and dill, baked potato with toppings, vegetable soup, sweet potato fries, and fresh fruit and vegetables. The Cedarcrest Coconut Joy ice cream was a refreshing treat, and the most unusual was a dish called moccasin nachos - 1/2" thick potato slabs covered with ground beef, wild rice, and a cheese sauce. It would have been even better with a white cheese (Mozzerella or a tiny bit of asiago).

Best breakfast remains the cooked Barley Flakes with chopped strawberries, Greek Yogurt, and maple syrup.

Lunch: 1/2" thick slices of baked potatoe, pan sauteed with candy-sweet onion from Outpost, and a little kale chopped and tossed in.

Wilted Mixed Lettuce, Chicken and Strawberry salad closed out the day.  Dressing was warmed mixture of blended raspberries, honey and balsamic vinegar - so delightful.

And with each:  Cool, clear water!

Rev. 21:6  He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To him who is thirsty I will give to drink without cost from the spring of the water of life.

Rev. 22:17  The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let him who hears say, “Come!” Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life.
