She's back!

Our grandson David Penza passed away September 7th, 2008 at the tender age of 19. I can hardly believe it will soon be a year. David touched many lives, and his story of faith and spiritual strength has touched many. Koos for Kids (charity of Milwaukee Brewer bullpen catcher, Marcus Hanel) recently dedicated the pavillion in Haban Park - Racine in David's memory. I will post a picture of the plaque, and you can read more about David in some of my internet posts as Milwaukee Christian Living Examiner.
As guardian for my mother in another state, much time over the past 6 months plus also kept me away from blogging. It has been a rewarding challenge to get some things cared for in her home, and to prepare it for weatherization. Mom will be 92 September 3rd.
Lots of writing opportunities have come my way and I can most often be found at the computer these days, instead of shopping, which makes the hubby happy!
Some of this summers' stories and articles in addition to the Examiner: Chicken Soup for the Family (coming out in October) has - Loving without Words. Ultimate HCI books' The Ultimate Teacher, has a fun story about a favorite mentor, Marv Hegle, Christian Communicator has an article about Writing for Anthologies, several articles in Christian Connections, and a story in Kiwi Publishing's, Thin Threads anthology.
Writing is what keeps me sane. Now that I've written that I can just hear my daughter-in-law encouraging me that I might need to write more :) I always have several WIPs (Works in Progress) - currently two non-fiction books (one about my Native American heritage), several devotionals and a mini-mystery story.
Reviewing mostly inspirational fiction and some non-fiction has given me fresh insights into another genre that is 'calling' me - somewhere in my spare time, and working with a couple of on-line lay-counseling ministries for moms keeps life filled with adventure. But I wouldn't want life any other way.
My younger sister, Marvel, gave me a 3o day Ziggy booklet with scripture verses she had written on each page next to the cartoon. I'd set it aside until I finished another booklet, and took it to Michigan when we were working on Mom's place (another story for another time). Each day the verse so perfectly fit what we were experiencing it was amazing. What a thoughtful gift.
Recently saw Julie/Julia - liked it! Haven't been to the theatre (or watched TV) very much the past year or so and hardly know who the actors are. I love to cook, though, have watched Julia child a few times in the past, and totally related to the character Julie and her meltdowns. It was great to see so many men there and to hear their laughter.
Time to go move all my photos to the external hard drive- my computer is slowing down too much. Blech - this sort of thing is like housework - not very creative, necessary, but glad-you-did-it-when-its-done.
Till tomorrow when I will post a few reviews.
Delores
