Day 10 - Committing and Submitting

I heard a wonderful explanation yesterday on the difference between committing and submitting that has the potential to change my life.  The two verses below show the action I need to do from two viewpoints.

Prov. 16:3 Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.  - If I commit this blog and its goals to the Lord, I am "rolling it over", dedicating it to Him and His glory.  That is good, but if that is ALL that I do, I am still retaining control.  That's why so many times I either commit to myself that I am going to complete this goal/resolution etc. or I 'really try to give' a problem area of my life to God, then when I get weak, pull on the cord and yank it back.  I've committed, but not submitted.

James 4:7 Submit therefore to God, Resist the devil and he will flee from you - Submitting, on the other hand, is giving up control - to subject one's self under another's control.  If I try to resist the devil on my own, I will lose the battle, but if I put myself under God's authority, and then resist the devil, he will flee from me because I am in submission to God's authority - the only authority that causes the devil to flee.

It continues to amaze me that after I've read a scripture what seems to be hundreds of times, I hear it or read it again, and finally I get it!   What patience God has with me.  This lesson feels like preparation for this week, as I have two luncheons at restaurants - Monday and Thursday.  Me of the not-so-distant past would want what is on others' plates, and look at desserts first.  This time I am committed to submit :)  Wonder what the waitresses will think of me photographing my entrees?

Breakfast:  Ezekiel custard (1/2 slice of Ezekiel bread, 1 egg, rice milk, vanilla, cardamon, nutmeg, cinnamon).  Made yesterday with stevia/agave sweetened meringue.
Lunch:  Roasted chicken, 1/2 baked potato & broccolli topped with lemon-olive oil.

Dinner:  Snacking at small group.  Gluten Free crackers from Sam's Club, Mozzerella cheese, pineapple and Plum Custard. Lighter meal on Sunday (less activity) is ok, but not enough protein, so I will have a slice of ham rolled up around a bit of pickle when I get home.
