Day 11- Healthy Choices - Preparing for Success

Spontaneity is more my strong suit and pleasure so I'm daily working on organizing and planning time to be free for those spur-of-the-moment pleasures.   This year-long resolution is not  'just another diet' but a life-style that I am determined to publicly share for a year.   You already know I don't want to continue the habit or cycle mountain highs and valley lows in my weight.  I want a different kind of fat: F(aithful)  A(vailable)  T(eachable).  Yep. Spiritually fat, promised in Isaiah 1:19 "I    If you’ll willingly obey, you’ll feast like kings."

Ready and willing I began the day with the Bender Ball.  Inflatable, about the size of a basketball, but much squishier, I found it provides support and stability for crunches, planks, and other exercises usually impossible for me.   What a physical workout.

Approaching God and others with humility makes me willing to hear and learn.  Instead of telling God what to do (and hurry please), I listened this morning and obeyed, writing a few notes of apology.  I figure if I am like a glass that is full (of myself), I will not have room for God - for His wisdom and instruction and help, and I won't have much to offer others either.  What an emotional workout.   I feel lighter when I clean a drawer or closet, and I feel amazing now that I've cleaned one of the rooms of my heart.  Now I felt...

PREPARED FOR THE FEAST.  And what a treat I had today.  Before meeting my friends at a local restaurant (The Chancery) for lunch, I planned for success:
  • If no healthy entrees, I'd look for 1-2 healthy items - no fried food, and order side dishes.
  • Request substitutes if possible.   (One restaurant in our town told us no substitutions were allowed for anything - needless to say no one in our party has returned there.)
  • Eyeball the portions on the entree and move the 'abundance' to the side of the plate to take home.
Complete success at Chancery!  The server pleasantly accepted my request of potential substitution for the rice (extra vegetables).  In addition the healthy entree was attractively served, and provided enough abundance for tomorrow's lunch entree.  There were several other options I could have had as well. Highly recommended.   (see meal photos below)
