Day 5 - Only way to be truly satisfied

Abiding in the vine.  My friend Irene and I spent time today discussing the freedom of knowing we are helpless.  Sounds like a conundrum doesn't it?  But look at John 15:5  “I am the Vine, you are the branches. When you’re joined with me and I with you, the relation intimate and organic, the harvest is sure to be abundant. Separated, you can’t produce a thing."

When we examined what we truly believe (more than a belief - a trust that acts upon the belief), we found these things:

When Jesus died I died with Him.  When Jesus rose, I rose with Him - empowered with all His mighty power and strength.  Without Him I can do nothing. Nada.

So whether I 'do' the resolution for a year or 10 years, if Christ is not the center and the reason for eating at the Lord's Table, then I will fail - again.  (How many "diets" have I tried and failed?  I've lost count, but more than a dozen.)  But - if I abide (live in, make myself at home in) in the Vine (Jesus Christ) He will enable me to not just survive but overcome food addiction.  It is interesting to realize the challenge of the words 'at home' - because I don't feel comfortable - at home - just anywhere.  And I generally tend to put that veil back on when I do not feel at home, and present a different public face. To me 'at home' means that I can relax and stop pretending because I feel totally safe to be myself, feel totally accepted and loved and don't have to hide anything. Now isn't it amazing that Jesus wants to abide - live in, make Himself at home in me - and the question for me is do I make this a welcoming place, a haven, a home for Christ.

Breakfast:  Cottage Cheese breakfast - today with Cherries, toasted almonds, and a 1/2 oz. container of amaretto-flavored creamer.

Lunch: Veggie-Egg Scramble - chopped steamed veggies from an oriental restaurant - cabbage, brocolli, carrots, water chestnuts, onion, peppers.

Dinner:  Chicken Vegetable Soup - we cooked the chicken in a small Nesco with 3 cups water, a couple of bay leaves, garlic powder and Herbs de Province.  After removing the chicken we added 4 cups water and 2 Herb Ox broth packets, carrots, cabbage, 1 small potato, celery.  Add chicken back to tender veggies. Very Yummy.
Served with Ezekiel bread.
