Day 41 - Listening and cleaning

Jehovah-Eloheenu - The Lord our God -Jeremiah 42:6 “Whether it is pleasant or unpleasant, we will listen to the voice of the LORD our God...”

I'm often chagrined at my own weakness, and today was no different.  Cleaning the cupboards, one is apt to come upon little hidden "treasures" and to think I should eat them, (all) since they are there...and paid for... you know the line.   The physical work was nothing compared to the battle of the little spirits on my shoulders 'dukeing it out' with my mind.  Eat this... no don't... yes..no... Finally I decided to treat the food like paper - Three categories - a garbage bag, and a box
One - Things I've kept too long/never really liked/don't know what it is... TOSS.
Two:   Things I can use to maintain or improve my health.   Cook or PUT AWAY
Three - Things I can share.  PLACE IN BOX
That made saying no a lot easier.   Why does the human mind run looking for agreement to our wants before going to God and seeking what is best?   Time after time, when I finally listen to God's spirit, I feel so relieved and free.  It's not that I cannot eat those things - Jehovah-Eloheenu (our God) loves us enough to give a choice, and to give some guidelines of what is best for me.   Again I am in awe that there is not just a god out there, but that He chooses to be OUR GOD...and compared to some of the 'unpleasant' lessons I've had to learn, this one was pretty mild.  I'm so glad Jehovah-Eloheenu, our God does not give up on us.

Breakfast:  Egg Salad on Fenugreek Indian Thin Bread (Swad), and pineapple, honeydew and raspberry fruit salad
Lunch: Creamy asparagus soup (copied flavors from soup we had in Cedarcreek the other day and added chicken chunks). Sauteed shallots and onion in butter with pinch of stevia.  Added to pureed chicken broth, asparagus stems and cooking broth. Added chicken  and blanched asparagus tips with celery and garlic salts. Heated until asparagus tips were tender, and added 1/2 cup half and half and 1/2 cup raw yogurt.  Wonderful.
Dinner: Indian Papadi - high protein snack chips made from garbanzo beans, guacamole and Cheesecake factory's tamari sauce

Tasted yogurt 'creme brulee' made for tomorrow. You know it will be good when you want to lick the bowl before baking :)
