Day 48 - Which kind of rock ?

I love rocks - their strength, firmness, immovable in many cases, and power shown in uses such as defense or breaking down substances.  Of course I love the beauty of rocks too and try to find a unique one where ever we go.  Although the meaning of rocks became more personal after I read Hinds Feet in High Places by Hannah Hurnard, rocks brought pleasure from early youth, and my love of rocks mystified my husband when on vacation in Florida, he returned with the car to pick me up at a little shop and found me examining rocks in the driveway instead of merchandise in the shop.

Eben (Rock or Stone) is the name of God in Genesis 49:24 But his bow remained steady, his strong arms stayed limber, because of the hand of the Mighty One of Jacob, because of the Shepherd, the Rock of Israel"  Eben means strength and that is the way I think of God.  But I Peter 2:8 says that Christ is also stone of stumbling and a rock of offense to those who don't believe.  Isn't it amazing how we can be duped and blinded to Christ's true nature and then discover that the one we ran from (because He knew us too well and His Word revealed so much), is the one who will be our strength, our firm defense, our immovable support.

I used to think that Christ was a rock of offense only to the unbeliever, but that verse and Romans 9:33 from the Message  clearly show that if I am not trusting or obedient I am also included here -
Rom. 9:33  Careful! I’ve put a huge stone on the road to Mount Zion,
a stone you can’t get around.
But the stone is me! If you’re looking for me,
you’ll find me on the way, not in the way.
1Peter 2:8  For the untrusting it’s
    . . . a stone to trip over,
        a boulder blocking the way.

I am always looking for rocks, and here is a gem - a beauty.  If I am looking for the perfect me or other perfect person, Christ will be a boulder in my way. But if I look for Him, I will find Him. Eben.  My rock of strength.

Food: A slight fever curtailed cooking, shopping and activities today.  I got up, had liquid and meds and went back to sleep.
Brunch: Spelt bread and beans.  Can't a gramma have cravings too :). Green tea.
Dinner:  Half a pasty (rutabaga, carrots, beef) and Tomato basil soup.
