Day 110 - Friday - The ultimate breakfast

Okay, I'm a foodie.  I admit it.  But still, Friday morning's breakfast at Spiro's in Iron Mountain was a great example of stepping things up - and far more than a notch.  Creamy, rich, decadent - for breakfast!  I'm someone who 'can live without' oatmeal - but now I've discovered that adding an old love (Creme Brulee dessert) to oatmeal can transport me to sunny shores of Greece.  Sides offered to Creme Brulee Oatmeal were nut of choice (I had pecan) and raisins and a ramekin of oranges and apples.  Oh my.  I was in heaven.

Decadence is such a delicious way to start the day.

We completed the long week helping my Mom after her stroke by reading Psalm 116 - Verses 4-7 is a great synopsis of God's guidance and helps this week, and verses 12-14 echoed our hearts response.

Psa. 116:4-7 Then I called on the name of the LORD: “O LORD, save me!”  The LORD is gracious and righteous; our God is full of compassion.  The LORD protects the simplehearted; when I was in great need, he saved me.  Be at rest once more, O my soul, for the LORD has been good to you.

This week was exhausting and had much emotional turmoil, but keeping track of this log and daily devotions was actually a stress-leveler.  Things turned out so much better than I could have hoped, and I'm truly grateful to God and appropriately the next verses vocalize my thoughts.

Psa. 116:12-14 How can I repay the LORD for all his goodness to me?  I will lift up the cup of salvation and call on the name of the LORD.  I will fulfill my vows to the LORD in the presence of all his people.

I'm encouraged once again to fulfill the commitment, though I do admit that it is harder than I thought to document everything and to get to the computer every night (especially when I dash off to another state without the computer).  Another lesson learned - don't assume every hotel will have a computer with access to the blog.  I'm not whining  - just stating the facts, but I'm home now and as soon as I complete the missing 5 days, will be 'back in the saddle again.'

Lunch on the way home was in Wausaukee.  Boiled Cod, broccoli and cauliflower,  beans and the waitress brought me a surprise - a dish of onion 'strings' which were 1/4" thick strips of breaded onions - very nice and not greasy.  Nancy and I shared Blueberry pie for dessert (she likes the crust more than the filling, and I like the filling so you know which half Nancy got!

A very late night snack was at Applebee's - a portion of Oriental Chicken Salad - photo tomorrow.
