Tapas is a quaint patio-restaurant next to the Market Square carriage ride station. Feeling starved because the hotel restaurnat was all wheat-based carbs that we had to pass up, we went downtown Savannah. That was the first mistake. As the carriage driver intoned - we could have slept in as Savannah doesn't open up for the most part until after noon.
It was 11:00 when we were shown a table at Tapas... admiring the plates of fluffy yellow omelets and crispy bacon being carried past. Forty minutes later our food finally arrived - burnt on the outside, raw inside. We searched out the veggies in the center of the omelet and ate my sausage (Marlene ordered the Italian omelet and her sausage was more like hot kielbasa).
I called this a fluke because the other food looked good - even when I went insie to complain the food being carried past me looked good. Maybe it was my request of no cheese (all the omelets were listed with cheese) or maybe it was only one cook with almost every table filled... whatever the reason it was a poor experience for me.
The manager was gracious and did not charge in addition to apologizing, which we appreciated.
We raced to the candy store next door and bought a chunk of sugar-free chocolate covered pecans.
Savannah Candy Kitcchen - our highlight of Savannah.. We were going to stop there again on the way home, but changed our minds. Neither of us wnat to return despite the candy.
On to Lake Worth FL and some AWESOME eating.
