Day 124 - Recalculate - a feast from Jerusalem

Guess what happens when you get 'sister-napped' and have to pack in an hour!  Too many clothes and no area or state maps and a GPS that likes to sing "Mixed Signals".

Trying to get out of the last town we saw the same gas station three times before we shut the GPS off and rebooted. Good thing the policeman watching was only 'entertained' by our vehicular antics :)

Life is a lot like the GPS in a way though.  Sometimes disobedience or other 'static' interuppt the direct connection and block spiritual reception too.  Most often it is my 'idea' or my control issues that cause God to say - "You think so?  Recalculate that plan"  And I am always glad He did - sooner or later  :)

Psalm 1 says to be like a tree.  It was fun to discuss that today on our drive  The roots must go down deep and be firmly established to the source of life and nourishment.  The Psalm goes on to say the tree should be planted by the water. That would mean not be there sometimes, or off and on, or even on a regular basis - put permanently fixed there - on purpose.

Breakfast at the motel included  eggs and ham which were too dry - not eaten, but I had the abundance of baby portabella mushrooms from last night's dinner to complete the sausage provided, and some fresh grapes. Very refreshing.

Lunch was awesome!  The Asheville, NC  stop at the Jerusalem Garden Cafe was a God-sighting, and a culinary adventure.  The God-sighting was that the GPS told us to turn one more block to the right and then one block to the left for the restaurant where we intended to dine. I felt I should stopand walk and pulled into a parking place. As we walked that direction numerous fire trucks and emergency vehicles sped to the very block where we would have been.  We entered a bookstore and asked a student for ideas for Mediterranean dining and were given directions the opposite way about 3 blocks. Sirens rent the air as we headed to our new destination.  The culinary adventure was that Marlene had never tried these foods (hummus, tahini salad with lamb or spiced chicken and pita).  Dessert too - Turkish pistachio delight on currant sauce.  Everything was totally delicious and the decor of beautiful tapestry hung ceiling and wall coverings, star-design low cushion seating or 'window seat benches' piled with pillows next to gold medallion tables) as well as the charming servers made us feel like we'd visited another country.  Totally delightful.

Dinner - Chicken Oriental salad at Applebee's
