Day 162 - Modified Daniel Fast

Tomorrow begins the 21 day modified "Daniel" diet.  The kitchen is ready, fresh veggies and fruit are in the fridge and the devotion I will be doing is The Papa Prayer by Larry Crabb.

Any time I do a restricted menu for a planned term, my first and primary focus has to be the spiritual undergirding.  Larry Crabb begins the 21 section book with this description of prayer: "It's just recently become clear to me that my prayer life has been mostly about trying to get God to do something for me.... I've read books that say prayer is an opportunity to have a conversation with God, like two good friends getting to know each other better."  The idea of the PAPA prayer is a way to get so close to God," Crabb concludes, "that He actually lives His life through me.  Prayer now feels less about asking for something and more about enjoying someone."

It's not so much a particular prayer, but an attitude that I feel expresses the purpose behind my goal of freedom from the captivity of food addiction through first spending time at The Lord's Table.

Join me for the next 21 days looking into the PAPA prayer while also focusing on a detoxing and clarifying nutritional plan to reset the physical and recharge the spiritual.
