Day 167 - Protein, purging and sleep

No sleep (adrenal supplements at night and hormone imbalance). Add to the mix too little protein in the morning (finally fell asleep about 7 a.m. for a couple of hours, and was too sluggish to drink a whole smoothie) is not my best combination. A couple of walks outdoors helped lower levels and increased the appetite again.

Recovered now after dinner with protein, I can continue on the PAPA prayer and the second "P" - purging - not to be confused with a detox diet or any symptoms of anorexia or bulemia.

Today's food pictures are Strawberry smoothie.  I only drank 1/3.

Red and Green Lettuce Leaf Salad, with celery, tomato and a dressing of ginger, sesame, oil and a little cherry juice to cut the spicy bite of the ginger.  Oh, so good. The color and tang of a balsamic with mysterious notes of the cherry.

Dinner was a fun taste for me.  Ground chicken breast mixed with capers and lemon made a moist burger.  The colorful side-dish is a melange of beet greens, rubbed beets and dark cherries.  Very tasty and glad I made enough for tomorrow.

PAPA Prayer - 4

P for purge yourself of anything blocking your relationship with God. Do you see the word that offends me here? YOURSELF.

The dictionary explains purging; To remove (impurities and other elements) by or as if by cleansing. 2. To rid of sin, guilt, or defilement. 3. Law To clear (a person) of a charge - ONLY GOD CAN PURGE SIN

Perhaps the author means confessing or repenting (Acts 3:19 Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord,)

But I/we can never purge ourselves of anything. I believe from his further description to “put into words whatever makes you uncomfortable or embarrassed when you’re real in your relationship with Him (God)… How are you thinking more about yourself and your satisfaction than about anyone else including God and His pleasure?” –sounds more like putting my name into every one of the ten commandments – making it personal – in other words recognizing, CONFESSING and then REPENTING.   But only God can do the purging.

A girlfriend and I reviewed our past of personal attempts of purging habits and addictions in our lives - every one ended in failure.  Only when we are in the Word and feeding at The Lord's Table FIRST - 'putting on' the character and nature of Christ - will be begin 'putting off' the old nature and breaking the chains of addiction.

Losing a pound a day on the Daniel program is a bonus, and I may be able to do more if I hydrate better and drink all my breakfast protein.  Day 5 of 21
