Days 159-160 Roadtrip recovery and Preparation

5,000 miles is a lot of eating and, when with your sisters, not enough sleeping!  Life continues though, and after only one day of recovery was on the road again for a day.  Left at 4 a.m. and got home about 10:30 p.m. very exhausted.

A spirulina bar (Raw Revolution) helped begin the day and an opportunity to stop at Spiros in Iron Mountain and fellowship with good friend Julie was a bright spot in an intense day.  Grape Leaves stuffed and seasoned to delight the palate were accompanied by a cup of beef vegetable and barley soup - very delicious.  The only thing that would have made it better would have been a Greek dessert which was not on the dessert tray.  I should have asked.

Dinner was at Applebee's for a repeat favorite - half size Oriental Chicken Salad. Dessert was a mini hot fudge sundae topped with walnuts.  Just the right size.

Still recovering in every way - physically, emotionally, spiritually, and certainly nutritionally.  I'm reminded of the second phase of the Setting Captives Free classes - The Lord's Table.  It was some time before I was prepared to begin that phase because I knew it meant a 21 day fast.  After weeks of reading on fasting and prayer I was finally ready.  Conversely, when I did a health class online with Nancy Desjardins I was at first dismayed that the entire first week was preparing for the change in diet.  We were instructed to take the first week and prepare not just ourselves but our kitchen.  After the first day's examination of my kitchen and cupboards, I understood the need for a week of preparation!  Thought of that as I spent most of today cleaning the refrigerator - post roadtrip.

Oh my, the things you find in that neglected cold-storage box.  Hubby's 'undetermined items', sisters' forgotten things, I meant-to-make it ingredients, and of course some green and black potential science experiments.  We are now one day closer to the new plan.

The new plan?  Beginning Sunday for three weeks I'll be on a nutritional plan similar to a modification of the "Daniel Fast or Diet" of the Bible.  I'm encouraging myself to prepare, and use the next few days to log promised recipes, other trip photos and encourage you to join if you need a detox, a fresh start to your diet, a good nutritional base, or all three.

Reading Daniel chapters One and Ten will help with the preparation - the main verses used for the Daniel Fast or Daniel Diet are:
Daniel chapter 1 describing how Daniel and his three friends ate only vegetables and drank only water. (Daniel 1)[1] At the end of a ten day trial period, Daniel and his three friends appeared healthier than their peers who ate the rich foods from the royal table. In Daniel chapter 10, Daniel fasts again, abstaining from "choice food," meat, and wine. (Daniel 10)[2]

An internet search of the Daniel fast will garner you several sites with reflections, food lists, recipes, and even cookbooks for purchase.  But first...

about 48 hours more of preparation.
I Thessalonians 2:13 And so we too constantly thank God that when you received God’s message [RECEIVE God's Message) that you heard from us, [LISTEN to the messengers God sends me] you accepted it not as a human message, but as it truly is, God’s message, [ACCEPT it as God's Words] which is at work among you who believe [LET it work in my life and change me].
