Days 259-260 Double your joy

Visiting those with deeper pain is always a humbling and thought provoking situation. Both friends I visited this week I’ve known for decades. We’ve prayed through a lot of trials and celebrated a lot of victories. How blessed I feel as I’m reminded that such friendships are rare happenings and what living is all about.

The memorial service for a third friend with a favorite saying of God is Good - All the Time was the culmination of 48 hours of pondering about eternity, and being thankful for these forever friends.

“"Friendship doubles your joys, and divides your sorrows." – unknown author

C.S. Lewis "Friendship … is one of those things that give value to survival."

I’ve certainly experienced all of those sentiments with these friends and most remarkably, though it had been a couple of years since I’d personally sat down with one of the friends, this verse was still true:

Phillipians 1:26 You can start looking forward to a great reunion when I come visit you again. We’ll be praising Christ, enjoying each other.

I also could not help but remember that the food is not the most important aspect of the meal but the company with which it is shared.  How marvelous to have that relationship of a great reunion whenever we get together, no matter how long the parting.

Romans 14:21 from the Message “Rom. 14:21 When you sit down to a meal, your primary concern should not be to feed your own face but to share the life of Jesus.
