July 3 – 181 – July 4 – 182 –
Oftentimes we have an agenda when we ‘go to God in prayer.’ We already know what is wrong and we usually have some inkling of what is right and what is wrong – what we could or should do. Does God have an agenda too? We act like it a lot of times, trying to ‘be’ the person we should be, to ‘do’ what we think scriptures say to ‘do’, or to ‘say’ the words we think we should pray, to fulfill our imaginary God agenda, so that He will answer our prayers.
What if, as Crabb suggests, that before we ask for a thing, we relate with God. Commune with Him. Just tell Him where we’re at – what we observe and what we’ve examined that we know does not belong. Then recognizing that God is sovereign and can work these things together into something good, we let Him.
We let Him. Without sharing our thoughts or suggestions, no parameters when prayers need to be answered. Truly believing that we know to WHOM we are praying and we are ready to listen and be directed. I mean, how can I hear God talking, until I stop?
Sometimes I have a food agenda too, like I NEED chocolate – or potato chips – or its been a long time, I think I will have a slice or two of pizza today, but how can I do that in a more healthy way… See all food agendas aren’t naughty!
Today my food agenda was to try a new vegetable recipe with the result of a big smile and wanting to peruse more of the Vegetables cook book.
Food Saturday:
My own Calci-cookies
Blanched sugar-snap peas with a Sour-Cream mint dip – surprisingly refreshing.
Mix sour cream (I used about 1/3 cup) with 1-2 Tbsp. Mayonaise, a Tbsp. of freshly dried mint (just picked some yesterday). If desired add tsp. of favorite sweetener.
Food Sunday:
Calci-cookies
½ baked potato, Chicken cooked in rice wine and sauce of lime, chicken broth, herbs, rice milk and sour cream
Slouvaki – Chicken & red pepper kabob on a pita, creamy sauce, chopped tomato and onions – Best food at high school event yet – (Tremper Field) Drum and Bugle Competition
