Days 328 - 330 - Comfort Food

Brrr - it's been cold out and warm Chicken Soup hit the spot.  Chicken, a little rice cooked in the broth, carrots, celery, onions, bay leaves and of course Herbes de Province make Mmm Mmm Good.

Salad has Greek Dressing from Sparti's and a some chopped Gyro meat.

Veggie lasagne is the best gluten-free I've made so far and will surely repeat this delight.  Replacing the usual noodles were quarter-inch thick sliced zucchini and squash (Carnival, I think it was called - yellow and green stripe and shaped like a fat cucumber).  The layers were:
Squash and Zucchini slices
Sauce: Ragu Chunky Spaghetti Sauce, 6 oz. tomato paste and 12 ounces tomato juice
Cheese:  Mozerella and a few shreds of Colby
Onions and Italian Sausage (from RangerCity Marketplace in Wausaukee, WI)
Three layers of each and baked at 350 for 45 minutes.

Yum - ultimate gluten-free comfort food.

It's interesting that the scripture never links comfort and food.  It is we who seek comfort from that which was never created with such power.

Need internal long-lasting comfort?  Here is where to find it: 2Thessalonians 2:16-17 "Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself and God our Father, who has loved us and given us eternal comfort and good hope by grace, comfort and strengthen your hearts in every good work and word. "
Philemon 7 "For I have come to have much joy and comfort in your love, because the hearts of the saints have been refreshed through you".

So, before I run to the temporary comfort food (like the hot chocolate I had tonight), I run to the Lord's Table and allow Christ himself to give me eternal comfort - through His Word and through His followers.

A special thanks to those who called today and ministered comfort to me.
